Finalising our spending plan and setting targets are the two last major pieces of work we’ve go to do on the Local Transport Plan before we submit it to the Department for Transport in March next year.
Feedback from this site will help us to do both, so please take some time to tell us your views on our proposed spending programme by filling in a questionnaire or getting in touch using the FREEPOST address below.
Between now and March, there are several key dates:
Friday 6 January 2006
End of public consultation on the spending plan. This is the deadline for responses to this website.
21 February 2006
Meeting of the County Council’s Cabinet at which the Final LTP, including the spending programme and targets, will be considered.
31 March 2006
Submission of the Final LTP to the Department for Transport.
April 2006
Approval of the Final LTP by the County Council to enable the document to be officially adopted as County Council policy.
The new LTP will take effect from April 2006, when we’ll start developing and implementing the schemes in our spending plan. Work has already started on many of the schemes we’re planning to implement in the next couple of years.
We’re keen to ensure members of the public are as involved as possible in the planning and design of transport schemes, so we’re looking for ways to improve how we consult people. There is a question in the questionnaire opposite about consultation, which asks how you would prefer to be consulted on schemes that are happening in your local area.
