Traffic travelling into and through Witney is currently funnelled into a bottleneck at Bridge Street, which is the only river crossing for traffic entering the town centre from the north and east.

This results in significant congestion and air pollution problems in Bridge Street itself and elsewhere in the town centre. Cogges Link is a new relief road which will provide a second crossing point to the south of the town, offering an alternative route into the town and diverting traffic away from Bridge Street and the rest of the town centre.

The new road will stretch from the Oxford Hill/Jubilee Way junction on the B4022 as far as the Sainsbury’s roundabout on Witan Way, forming a loop around the east and south of the Cogges estate, under Stanton Harcourt Road, and over the River Windrush.
