Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) usually allow only residents with permits or short-stay visitors to park on street in a particular road or area. CPZs help to protect residential streets from intrusive commuter parking, and are a good way of controlling the overall level of traffic in an area.
We’ve introduced a number of CPZs in Oxford already, and we
plan to expand these zones and add new ones in the next couple of
years. These zones will be in parts of the city where
congestion caused by car journeys to destinations like hospitals and
university buildings is at its worst. CPZs will be complemented by improvements to Oxford’s bus network and
Park & Ride system, which ensure that commuters who can
no longer park in residential streets have an alternative way of
getting to their destination.
Other schemes:
- Bus priority and other improvements on London Road and Banbury Road
- Improved facilities for buses on Woodstock Road
- High Street safety and environmental improvements
- Cycle network improvements
- Ring road signing
